The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its price is surprisingly low and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

- Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles like furniture leg. The robots also come with Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept at cleaning dog hair. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and can work when you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.
- iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and Robotvacuummops.Uk efficient in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. You can alter its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a good cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
- IRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky units of the competitors. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It has advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however, it's going to cost you more and create more noise.
- iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house based on how dirty these areas tend to be.
For bigger homes it's worth looking for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your home via the app or voice commands. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have large furniture. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be extremely useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd think from its price. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app also provides access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.
